PTG300.1 New Approaches to Renaissance Painting Techniques and Conservation through Modern Technology (Fall, Spring)

Introduction to the traditional techniques of easel and wall painting, as practiced in Florence and Tuscany since the 14th century through the Renaissance, as well as basic information regarding the preservation of such artworks, with particular emphasis on modern technological advances. Biennially, Fall semester students may opt to participate in a trip to Venice for the Biennale with an additional fee payable in Florence with a credit card.

Limited enrollment with preference given to students admitted to Studio Art Program with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Course-related fee: A fee will be billed from Syracuse to cover the costs of studio supplies and site visits in Florence (2017–2018 fee = $175).
