Description:
Taught in English Industrial organization, also called "the economics of markets", is an increasingly important field of applied microeconomics which analyzes the characteristics of a variety of market structures, the optimal strategies of firms and the roles of the government. The overall objective of this course is to help you think like an economist. The course will be a mix of modern IO theory and empirical observations about the structure of firms and markets, and behavior by firms that are not perfectly competitive. For SU students, this course counts as an economic elective.
Pre-req: Intermediate microeconomics course.
Class taught by Tsingua's School of Economics & Management and may not be available every semester. Tsinghua's exam schedule for this course may require students to stay beyond the regular SU Beijing program end-date.
