FIN355 : Money and Banking
Description:
This course aims to introduce the students the sophistication of the financial system that has evolved over the years to meet the needs of consumers, investors, and businesses and how this system operates. The complexity of financial marketplaces, institutions, and instruments in US and around the world will be introduced. Students will have a good understanding of the role of government in the financial markets as well as how the stock, bond and derivative markets operate. In addition to visits to Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Hong Kong Monetary Authority, students can learn more about the dynamics of the financial market through virtual investment on HK stocks and property markets. Meets with ECN 481.
Prereq: ACC 252 (managerial accounting),ECN 101, 102 (intro, micro and macro economics) and MAS 261 (quantitative methods) and junior standing; or major in economics and junior standing.
