ARC500.1 : Classical Chinese Architecture

Description:

This course introduces classical architecture and its principles through the study of its principal monuments, including the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace in Beijing and the classical gardens of Suzhou near Shanghai. While not a primary topic of this course, we will also see major new contemporary buildings in all three cities.
