Note for students enrolled in courses at a Florence university: The academic calendars at foreign universities may differ from the SU center academic calendar and may require additional housing days. This billing may occur after the program has begun, depending on when we confirm the actual number of additional days.
What's included in my program fee? The SU Florence program fee includes pre-departure meetings, orientation abroad, cultural activities, housing in private homes where students receive breakfast 7 days per week and an evening meal with their hosts 5 days a week (12 meals weekly). The fee also includes all-school field trips, a one-month transportation allowance, International Student ID card, and activities and services not covered by tuition and for which a separate fee is not charged. Students should budget about $3,025 for their remaining meals.
Students placed in apartments (architecture and studio arts students only) have apartment rent and utilities paid from the program fee, and receive a cash allowance to partially cover meal expenses. These students should budget an additional $3,275 for food.
The optional Signature Seminars each carry an additional fee estimated at $2,150.
Course fees: Some courses carry mandatory course fees. These fees are course-specific and pay for special supplies, lab fees, site entry fees and/or field trips. Course fees are invoiced mid-semester, after the student’s registration is final.
Financial Aid, Grants, and Scholarships: Syracuse University has generous financial aid policies. Aid, grants, and scholarships are available. SU Abroad also maintains an extensive list of outside scholarships available to its students.
