During your semester in Strasbourg, you will live with French hosts, either within the city of Strasbourg or in the immediate outskirts on a bus or tram line. Living with a host fimily allows you to use the French you’ve learned in class and develop insights into French culture and daily life. Hosts vary from families to single professionals. Continental breakfasts are provided by the host family every day, and evening meals are provided weekdays. For the midday meal, students will usually eat at cafés or student restaurants.
If you are studying German, you may also opt to live with a bilingual (German/French) host. You will receive a housing request form where you can specify your preferences and special needs.
Our housing coordinator in Strasbourg makes the placements based on extensive experience with each host, many of whom have welcomed students into their homes for a decade or more. Host families are much-loved by alumni, and often become "second homes" to students after they leave.
