Syracuse Florence provides a variety of technological resources to satisfy students’ needs. Desktop computers and printers are available in the computer lab and architecture studios (for architecture students only), while an extensive wireless network makes it possible to use personal laptops or mobile devices throughout the campus.
The University expects that students will receive and read email in a timely manner. Students are expected to maintain their accounts and check their email daily so that new mail will be properly received and read. A student’s failure to receive and read University communications delivered to his/her official email address in a timely manner does not absolve that student from knowing and complying with the content of such communications.
While students are allowed to redirect email from their official University email address to another address (e.g. @hotmail.com, @gmail.com), they do so at their own risk. The University is not responsible for the handling of email by other service providers. Having email redirected does not absolve students from knowing and complying with the content of the communication sent to their official University email address.
Wireless access is available to SU students, guest students, faculty and staff anywhere on campus for laptops and mobile devices through AirOrangeX. Simply login with your SU NetID (which has eight letters) and password. In order to take full advantage of SU’s high-speed Wi-Fi environment, you will need a device that supports the 802.11ac (preferred) or 802.11n. Using your own wireless routers, wifi hotspots and Apple AirPorts anywhere on campus is prohibited. Go to Wireless Access at SU for more information.
Wireless printing is available to printers located in the computer lab and the library.
If you are having problems, please bring your laptop or hand-held device to the IT Office in Room 20 of the Villa Rossa for assistance.
The computer lab consists of 20 PCs and one black & white printer and is located in the basement of Villa Rossa. It can be accessed from inside the Villa Rossa during daytime hours or from the garden during evenings and on Sundays.
