Securing Your Place in the Program

Paying the Advance Payment by Check (Syracuse and Visiting Students)

1) Make your $575 check or money order payable to Syracuse University. Include your SUID number or date of birth on the check.

2) Complete the Advance Payment by Check form, and mail both the check and the form to: Syracuse University Bursar Office, 119 Bowne Hall, Syracuse, NY 13244-1200.

3) Some visiting students from certain schools may be eligible for deferred payment.


Paying the Advance Payment Online (Syracuse Student Online)

1) Paying by credit card. Syracuse students can pay online using Visa, MasterCard, or Discover only. The third party processor is NelNet Business Solutions, and they charge a 2.7% processing fee for each payment.

For SU fall, spring, or summer students going abroad:

  • Use Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox for the transaction. The Bursar process will not work with Chrome or Safari.
  • SU students choosing to pay the $575 advance payment online with a credit card should go to MySlice .
  • Go to “Student Services”
  • Go to “Finances”
  • Click “View Student Account”
  • Click on “Please Click Here to Enter”
  • Click on “Make a Payment”
  • Click on “Pay Other Charges by Credit Card”
  • Read the disclaimer and click “Continue”
  • Click on “Advance Tuition Payment- Returning Students or SU Abroad”
  • Enter the Payment Amount ($575.00)
  • Click “Continue”
  • Fill in credit card info
  • NelNet will provide a receipt that you should forward to suabroad@syr.edu, so that it can be marked ‘received’ on your application
  • You can then check in MySlice to verify your payment has been posted on your bursar account. It will take a couple of days to post to your account.
  • Remember, you will still need to submit the Intent to Register form to SU Abroad.

2) Paying by EFT from a US checking or savings account. This service is offered through Higher One’s ePayment system. There is no fee for making payment by EFT; however, there is a $25.00 fee for payments returned due to insufficient funds.

  • Log in to MySlice
  • Go to “Student Services”
  • Go to “Finances”
  • Click “View Student Account”
  • Click on “Please Click Here to Enter”
  • Click on “Make a Payment”
  • Click on “Pay by EFT”
  • Parents can also access this payment option through their own Myslice account. Students must give their parents proxy access.
  • A list of payment types will appear. Choose “Advance Tuition” (Summer students should select the “SU Abroad Summer Program” option.)
  • Type $575.00 after choosing the Advance Tuition payment option
  • Type in bank info, enter the checking or savings account number and not the number on the debit card associated with your account.
  • Confirm payment information and click Submit

Paying Other Charges Online (All Students)

Once the advance payment is made (either online or by check) and received by the SU bursar’s office, all students who have an SUID number can make any subsequent payments online with Master Card, Visa, or Discover. The third party is NelNet Business Solutions, and they charge a 2.7% processing fee for each payment.

1) Paying by credit card, for SU fall, spring, or summer students going abroad:

  • Enable pop-ups on your computer; the process will not work otherwise
  • To make payments, go to MySlice
  •  Go to “Student Services”
  •  Click “Finances”
  •  Click “View Student Account”
  •  Click on “Click Here to Enter”
  •  Click on “Make a Payment”
  •  Click on “Pay Tuition by Credit Card”
  •  Read the disclaimer and click “Continue”
  •  Click on Bursar Bill Payment
  •  Enter the Payment Amount
  •  Click “Continue”
  •  Fill in credit card info
  •  NelNet will provide a receipt that you should print out and keep for your records
  •  You can then check in MySlice to verify your payment has been posted on your bursar account. It will take a couple of days to post to your account.

  • Type in the amount you are paying in the box, choose payment date, verify email address and choose checking or savings account
  • Type in bank info, enter the checking or savings account number and not the number on the debit card associated with your account.
  • Confirm payment information and Submit
