SU Abroad financial aid promotes accessibility

SU Abroad announces financial aid incentives that will benefit those considering international study in 2013. The incentives are part of an ongoing effort to promote greater access to study abroad opportunities, as well as to encourage participation in the newest SU Abroad programs including Istanbul; Santiago, Chile and Beijing.

SU Abroad announces financial aid incentives that will benefit those considering international study in 2013. The incentives are part of an ongoing effort to promote greater access to study abroad opportunities, as well as to encourage participation in the newest SU Abroad programs including Istanbul; Santiago, Chile and Beijing.

All Students

  • Merit-Based Scholarships: Students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or above at the time of application to SU Abroad will receive a merit scholarship of $650. No application needed. The Scholarship is determined once an official transcript has been received. 
  • Need-Based Study Abroad Grants (SAG): All admitted students will be automatically reviewed for grant eligibility based on the student’s need and determined by current FAFSA and CSS Profile (SU students, only) filings. No application needed. 
  • Location Grants: This need-based grant is for students admitted to the Beijing and Santiago who have demonstrated need. The need level is determined by review of current FAFSA and CSS Profile (SU students, only) filings. No application needed. 
    • $2000 Beijing- based on need, includes SAG 
    • $2500 Santiago- based on need, includes SAG 
SU Students 
  • Named Scholarships: Through the generosity of SU alumni or supporters of SU Abroad, a variety of Named Scholarships are available to students who exhibit financial need and/or academic achievement. 

Visiting Students

  • Tuition Differential Grants: These grants are awarded to students at colleges and universities that have an existing affiliation agreement with SU Abroad. Please check our web site at http://suabroad.syr.edu/suadvisors/affiliatedschools.html for the current list of affiliated schools. Students enrolled in affiliated schools should consult with their study abroad office for more details.
