Drama in London

London is unparalleled in the breadth and quality of its theater. There is simply no substitute for studying drama by witnessing great performances and productions, and DRA 350 and 351 get rave reviews from non-drama majors each semester.

Attendance at dramatic performances also figures in the program for drama majors, but there is an added emphasis on developing and honing acting skills. Collaboration with the Globe Theatre has resulted in a series of specially designed workshops conducted by Globe Theatre practitioners at the Globe. Such workshops might include working with Master of Movement practitioners, introducing and exploring another approach to voice, and working deeper into the text of specific plays using Globe techniques.

Qualified students who want to register for a drama course should indicate their interest by listing their choices among the first five courses on the online application. Approval by the Drama Department is required to register for any drama course except DRA 350, DRA 351, and DRA 400.3, which are open to all students.
