Syracuse Madrid Research Guide
This research guide provides a number of resources for students participating in the Syracuse Madrid study abroad program, divided into the various courses and disciplines it covers. The Institute Library
The Institute Library, founded in 1910, has more than 70,000 volumes, and its holdings grow every year. The library specializes in literature, history, art, and philosophy. Over time, private collections that once belonged to important Spanish scholars such as Fernández Almagro, Casalduero, etc., have been added.
A library card is required to check out books and may be requested at the library check-out desk (two photos required). Students are responsible for all materials checked out or borrowed from the library, as well as for their replacement if materials are lost, damaged, or stolen while checked or used under the students’ name.
Spanish Writing Center
The Spanish Writing Center is a tool offered by Syracuse Madrid to assist students enrolled in upper-level Spanish classes (300 & 400) which require papers, essays, presentations, etc., in Spanish. The Spanish Writing Center will assist students with composition, writing style, fluency (when presenting orally), etc. Our main objective is to help students rewrite and improve their papers and essays, as well as develop their writing and oral skills as applied to their classes.
