Berta Agudo graduated in modern languages and literature at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She was working on teaching various languages (English, Italian, French, and Spanish) but in the end decided to specialize in Spanish as a foreign fanguage, teaching Spanish in Italy. She obtained a master’s degree in Spanish as a second language at Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ever since she finished her studies, she has been collaborating with different institutions, such as Middlebury College in Spain, Southern Methodist University (SMU), Chapman University, ESCP Business School, and, lastly, Syracuse University. She enjoys sharing her culture and learning from her students, which she does every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montserrat Alonso holds a degree in Hispanic Philology from the University of Alcal\u00e1 de Henares and she completed a Master’s in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, presenting a thesis titled “Spanish for Tourism: A Proposal for a Task-Based Didactic Unit\u201d. Also, she has a Master’s in Latin American Literature from the University of Maryland, USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She worked as a Spanish professor in different universities: University of Maryland, Alabama University, NYU, USAC, Alcalingua and Men\u00e9ndez Pelayo. She also teaches the module “Spanish for Specific Purposes” in the Master’s Program for Training and Updating Spanish as a Foreign Language Teachers at the University of Valencia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montserrat is the author of the Spanish method “Embarque ELE” for levels 1, 2, 3, and 4, published by Edelsa Publishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Boemo holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). Her research focuses on emotion regulation, cognitive biases, and affective disorders, and she has published several high-impact peer-reviewed articles in international journals. She has been involved in multiple predoctoral and postdoctoral funded research projects, with a particular emphasis on experience sampling methods to investigate emotional processes in daily life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Boemo is currently a professor at the University of Alcal\u00e1. She has also taught courses related to Clinical Psychology (Assessment and Diagnosis, Psychological Treatment, and Personality) at the Complutense University of Madrid. In addition, she has taught Cognitive Psychology at Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a long career as a Spanish teacher working with students of diverse nationalities, Prof. Campion has authored several instructional materials for teaching Spanish, published by renowned companies such as Pearson, Wiley, and EF. In his efforts to promote the Spanish language, he published a work in 2002 focused on teaching Spanish as a second language through reading comprehension practice: \u201cUna desaparici\u00f3n misteriosa\u201d (Edinumen).
In addition to his teaching activities, he has concentrated his research on Spanish Golden Age literature, with a particular emphasis on literary collaboration and the application of digital humanities to its study. His doctoral thesis (2022) involved a critical edition and study of the two versions of the play El mejor amigo, el muerto.<\/em> Continuing his research on this play, he has published articles on the collaborative methods of playwrights in multi-author works. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has also worked as a journalist for EFE (Spanish News Agency) in South and Central America. As a translator, he has published several books on film and literary theory. In Madrid, he teaches Spanish language, Spanish literature and film at USC and Syracuse University. Sebasti\u00e1n Ch\u00e1vez is a Sociologist, MA in Visual Culture, currently researching in the area of Sociology of Sports. He has worked as a teaching assistant at Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile revising subjects related to the development of modern society and culture, philosophical anthropology, and folklore. He has also taught as a university professor at Universidad Europea de Madrid and Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid, teaching diverse aspects of the Sociology of Sports to undergraduate students, and as an invited professor at Universidad Austral de Chile, as teacher of survey methodology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While he has also had professional non-academic experience in the areas of Education, Culture, Project Management, and Media, his areas of academic interest have been the Sociology of Martial Arts, Sport Disability Studies, employment and volunteering in the sports sector, East Asia, museography and heritage studies. His present work dwells on the construction of proper technique in Japanese martial arts from an ethnographic perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miriam de Miguel Ezaguoi works as a Technical Advisor in the Subdirectorate General for Promotion and International Relations at the Spanish Institute for Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) of the Ministry of Culture. With a solid background in cultural management, she is a civil servant of the Spanish Corps of Museum Curators and has held positions in institutions such as The Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation and the State Secretariat for Communication of the Presidency of the Government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, she spent several years in the US, where  she held positions at the Visual Arts Department of the Americas Society in New York and the Cultural Office of the Spanish Embassy in Washington DC after completing her master’s degree on a Fulbright Scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Fern\u00e1ndez Dols is a full professor of psychology at the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid and has taught many different courses during his academic career. He is particularly interested in four disciplines: social psychology, political psychology, cross-cultural psychology, and emotion. For the last 10 years, Dr. Fern\u00e1ndez Dols has taught social psychology and political psychology to European undergraduate students, cross-cultural psychology to U.S. undergraduate students, and emotion to graduate students at universities in both sides of the Atlantic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Fern\u00e1ndez Dols’ research focuses on facial expression and everyday conceptions of emotion in different cultures. He is also interested in the study of societal problems related to justice, social norms, and moral behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mauricio Freyre is an architect, artist, and filmmaker whose practice operates at the intersection of film, installation, and performance, combining research-based methodologies with expanded cinematic forms. His work examines the relationships between cinematic language, architectural thinking, and archival imaginaries, with a focus on how colonial histories and spatial narratives are reactivated through the moving image.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2025, he completed the Artistic Research Residency at the Museo Reina Sof\u00eda within Museum of the Commons \u2013 Climate, where he presented Mal de ojo and Fundamental Errors. That same year, his first feature film, Estados Generales, premiered in the official selection of FIDMarseille and IDFA. His installation Interspecies Architecture (2021) was exhibited at the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale, and he received the National Award for Experimental Works from the Ministry of Culture of Peru in 2018. Alongside his artistic practice, he teaches at institutions such as KABK (The Hague), The Berlage (Delft), and UNAV (Navarra), among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He currently works as a professor at Universidad Complutense de Madrid where he teaches audiovisual research methods & techniques, cultural anthropology of Spain, and introduction to social anthropology for students of tourism & commerce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to teaching, he works in parallel as a consultant for El Viaje de Walker where he is the Head of Research Design.  He also teaches audiovisual anthropology, is an avid filmmaker, and acts as an accuracy consultant for several different film festivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Gonz\u00e1lez has previously worked on several EU projects dealing with border regimes, migration policies, human rights, and gender for different institutions such as ICMPD-International Centre for Migration Policy Development, Eliamep-Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy, and CIDOB-Barcelona Centre for International Affairs. Her main research interests include international migration, transnational families, care, emotions, and affect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alba Grao Rico is a dedicated Spanish instructor at Syracuse University in Madrid where she has been teaching since 2017. She holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and education sciences and a master’s degree in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, and she is a certified DELE examiner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alba began her career as a Spanish professor at the Instituto Cervantes and University Suor Orsola Benincasa, both in Naples, where she spent several years. Alba taught Italian at Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, Madrid, as well as Spanish for different language schools. She has also worked as a translator, DELE examiner, and with students with special needs in a public center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alba aims to teach Spanish not just as a language, but as a gateway to understanding Spanish and European cultures, inspiring her students to develop a deep passion for learning new languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mar\u00eda Guijarro Sanz received a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, with a specialization in Spanish as a Foreign Language and cognitive approaches to second language acquisition. Her doctoral research focused on the cognitive processing of Spanish relative clauses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has taught Spanish language, grammar, and composition at different levels at UCM and has collaborated with international academic and educational institutions. In parallel with her teaching activity, she has worked as a Subject Matter Expert in digital learning and instructional design projects related to neuroeducation and cognitive science applied to education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has published research articles in high-impact academic journals and has participated in research and innovation projects focused on language learning and educational technology. Her current interests include cognitive linguistics, instructional design, and the integration of artificial intelligence into language teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Violeta Janeiro holds a Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), where her research focused on collaborative artistic practices in Spain during the 1990s. Her career centers on artistic research into women’s resistance movements in Spain during the 1970s, as well as on curatorial practice. She has curated and co-curated exhibitions at institutions such as CA2M (Madrid), MUAC (Mexico), MARCO (Vigo), Kubus (Hannover), and Matadero Madrid, and is currently preparing upcoming shows at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sof\u00eda (Madrid), Azkuna Zentroa (Bilbao), and Le19 CRAC (France).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. S\u00e1nchez Millas\u2019 Ph.D. dissertation analyzed the period of absolute majorities of the socialist party, dealing specifically with the teamwork built for the Spanish politics towards the European integration process. Her research projects include identifying, classifying, and storing the personal files of a main character in the Spanish transition to democracy, Francisco Fern\u00e1ndez Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez, who was an outstanding promoter of opening up the country to the rest of the world after forty years of dictatorship. Since 1991, Mar\u00eda Teresa Vi\u00f1uelas has taught Spanish language and linguistics at Syracuse Madrid to undergraduate students at all Spanish levels. She was first a lecturer, and later, the director of the Mare Nostrum Signature Seminar. She has also directed the Roots and Routes and Spanish Identities Signature Seminars for Syracuse Madrid. Since 2005, she has served as supervisor of the Spanish Department and coordinator of internship and service learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With over 20 years of experience in sports institutions (sports clubs, associations, and federations), sponsoring companies, consulting firms, and marketing agencies, he focuses on sports digital marketing strategies. He has been a lecturer at many European universities, such as IESE, Universidad Europea, IE University, and the University of Navarra. He is currently Director at www.SportsBizLab.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Yrizar has taught at the undergraduate university level since 2003, first as a TA at the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid, and later as a lecturer at Syracuse University Madrid. At Syracuse Madrid, she has taught several history and political science courses, including the Imperium and Azahar Signature Seminars.  As of 2008, she collaborates with a graduate program at the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2005, Prof. Yrizar became the assistant to the Director for Academic Affairs, and in 2011, she was named Assistant Director of the Syracuse Madrid program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
