Student Experience Advisor

Position Description

Syracuse Florence is seeking a full-time Student Experience Advisor (SEA) to join our Student Services team, which is dedicated to enhancing the overall student experience and supporting students as they adapt to life abroad.

The SEA serves as the primary point of contact for students, responding to everyday questions and concerns, and offering guidance as they navigate cultural adjustment and integrate into the local community. This role requires a dynamic, empathetic, and approachable individual with a genuine interest in student well-being and intercultural engagement.

Ideal candidates are collaborative individuals with excellent organizational and communication skills. They are problem-solvers that remain calm under pressure and maintain composure in difficult situations.

Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the Student Experience Office staff:

  • Serve as a welcoming, student-facing presence. Provide accurate information, helpful guidance, and warm support in response to general student inquiries.
  • Stay consistently informed about Florence’s local offerings, events, and logistics in order to provide timely, relevant recommendations and prepare weekly communications for students.
  • Work with the Student Experience Manager to design and implement the extra-curricular calendar—from pre-arrival planning through to end-of-semester wrap-up—including liaising with vendors, booking services, and occasionally attending events outside standard office hours.
  • Take an active role in Pre-Arrival and Post-Arrival Orientation sessions, including preparation, facilitation, and follow-up tasks.
  • Ensure clarity, accuracy, and attention to detail in promotional materials. This includes basic editing and formatting of digital content for social media, student emails, weekly newsletters, event announcements, notice boards, and presentations.
  • When needed, assist the Housing Office with tasks such as contract preparation, document management, communication with students and housing providers, and the vetting of host families or apartments.
  • Participate in student conduct hearings and assist with related administrative procedures.
  • Support the broader Student Services team by performing additional duties as assigned by the Managers or the Assistant Director.
  • Serve as a member of the 24h Emergency team on rotation outside of office hours, maintaining timely and accurate incident reporting.

Note: While the core responsibilities are outlined above, the Student Experience Advisor may occasionally be asked to assist with additional tasks that arise throughout the semester. Flexibility, initiative, and a collaborative mindset are essential to ensure smooth coordination across the team.

Requirements:

  • Italian citizen or legal work permit for Italy
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Italian
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferable.
  • Proficient use of social media (Instagram, LinkedIn TikTok).
  • Exceptional, demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to high-pressure peaks in workload
