Humanities and Social Sciences

As varied as the Humanities and Social Sciences curriculum is, all courses are designed to give students the opportunity to gain a well-grounded knowledge of Italian and European culture and society while being exposed to the changing face of contemporary Italy and Europe. In so doing, students are offered the tools necessary to more fully grasp the context in which they are living and studying. The exploration of Italy’s unique history and culture highlights the roots of its key role today in the European Union, so that students can appreciate the challenges Italian society currently faces as the impact of globalization transforms it at an unprecedented pace.

Through select academic internships with local businesses, museums, and many other public and private institutions, students learn through first-hand exposure to the complexity of Italy’s – and Florence’s – social and cultural fabric.

SU Florence is fortunate to have a highly qualified teaching faculty composed of active scholars of international repute, whose courses provide a forum to share and discuss with students the latest developments in their respective fields.
