GEO300.3 Sustainable Urbanism (Spring) NEW FOR SPRING 2027

Registration priority to Design Program students. This interdisciplinary course explores urban sustainability through creative practice, set within the living environment of Florence.  After introducing the design thinking process as a way to build empathy and understand diverse needs, the class will examine a wide variety of approaches to address problem-solving, critical thinking, and representation within sustainable urbanism. Students will engage with concepts through a series of hands-on projects across a range of urban spaces and scales, developing both thematic knowledge of sustainable urbanism and core skills in creative narrative-making, encouraging students to explore different approaches, concepts, and practices relating to sustainability in urban contexts.
