Teaching Abroad

While the semester-long classes at Syracuse Abroad centers are largely taught by local instructors, Syracuse Abroad main campus faculty have been leading an increasing number of successful summer and other short-term programs abroad. These shorter experiences (typically from three to eight weeks for summer programs and from one week to two weeks for short-term spring programs) can be based at overseas centers or may travel to various other locations across the globe.

NEW FOR 2024!

Proposing New Courses/Programs Abroad

Syracuse University academic administrators (department chairs, program directors, undergraduate directors etc.) are encouraged to identify gaps in curriculum abroad and propose new courses/programs to enable more students to study abroad. Syracuse University full time faculty are welcome to propose new faculty-led programs that fulfill these objectives in line with their school/college strategic priorities.

To effectively identify Syracuse University school/college priorities in line with Leading With Distinction, the University’s academic strategic plan, Syracuse Abroad has partnered with the Office of Academic Affairs to introduce a new process for submitting course and program proposals by faculty and academic administrators.

Renewing Already Approved Faculty-led Programs

Faculty wishing to renew an already approved and run faculty-led program abroad follow the same initial process as the new applicants, but do not need to complete the final step in the process – the submission of the detailed formal proposal form.
