Hi! I’m Victoria, Class of 2026, and I studied a Hi! I’m Victoria, Class of 2026, and I studied abroad in London @syracuselondon during the fall of 2024 of my junior year. I’m a Finance and Television, Radio, and Film dual major; it was because of my TRF major that I chose to study in London. One of my most valuable memories comes from my Documenting Reality class, where we learned about British documentary filmmaking. This class gave me the opportunity to meet and speak with BAFTA winners and industry leaders. The best part was when we got the opportunity to go to Channel 4 headquarters and pitch a show idea to one of their producers!

Alongside that, I was able to gain more industry experience through the internship program the study abroad office offers. I had so much fun working at Fuel Theatre as an Operations and Producing intern, where I learned so much about the behind-the-scenes work of a developing theater production. The office was located right next to the Thames, and I got to work in the most gorgeous building. It was especially beautiful during Christmas time. The British work-life balance is great!

Honestly, I wasn’t going to study abroad—this was a last-minute decision, and I’m glad I made it because where else could I have had an opportunity like this? If you’re still deliberating, just stop thinking and say YES! Get out there and go! #syracuseabroad #orangeabroad#wherewillyougo #flashbackfriday
Hey hey, I’m Bella Andrade I am currently living Hey hey, I’m Bella Andrade I am currently living in the London and studying at @lcflondon_ ! 🇬🇧🧸✈️

I am Junior in @su_vpa studying in fashion design. I can’t believe how fast time is moving. I’m originally from New York. So I’ve always loved a big city!

 On campus at school, I am a part of @fypsyracuse , @universitygirlsu, and @fashiondesignsociety.

Studying fashion at LCF has been everything and more! Getting to learn technical skills like shoemaking, draping, and Fashion Illustration. I’m lucky enough to have been able to travel a lot, which has been so fabulous.

This program has taught me so much within the fashion industry, along with so many technical design elements. Extremely grateful for this experience!

Hey! I’m Jesús, studying abroad in @syracuselon Hey! I’m Jesús, studying abroad in @syracuselondon and living in Camden🇬🇧

I’m currently a junior studying Accounting and Entrepreneurship & Emerging Enterprises in @whitmanatsu.

On campus, I serve as the President of @lucha_su and I’m also a member of @mexsa.cuse!

I chose London because I’m from NYC and wanted a city that felt both familiar and new at the same time. London has that same fast-paced, diverse, and walkable energy I love, but with its own history, culture, and character that makes every day feel different.

This semester I’m taking courses like London Museums, Human Rights & Global Affairs, Multicultural London, and Green Britain. Being here means I’m not just learning in the classroom, but experiencing everything firsthand; walking through the places we study and seeing concepts come to life in real time.

Coucou! My name is Sarah Martin, I am currently a Coucou! My name is Sarah Martin, I am currently a senior studying Business analytics and Marketing. For today’s #meetanambassadormonday I will be reflecting on my time studying abroad in Strasbourg, France!

One of the main reasons I chose to go to Syracuse was because of their study abroad program. I chose Strasbourg because I wanted to go out of my comfort zone and study somewhere I would never go. I went abroad alone and ended up meeting some of my best friends which I am extremely grateful for. I loved how intimate the Strasbourg program is because I felt like I had such an amazing support system while being so far away from home. The Syracuse center had so many activities for us to participate in which helped everyone really feel like family.

My favorite part of Strasbourg was how accessible the public transportation is. My host family lived closer to the outskirts of the city and my morning commute became my favorite part of my day. I value having a routine and this helped me adjust way easier to living abroad. Traveling on the weekends became part of my routine while abroad. I was fortunate enough to have gone to 12 countries and 27 cities during my time abroad. I was so hungry to see different cultures, try new food and meet locals. Strasbourg has so much accessible transportation which is why I was able to travel so much. I am so extremely grateful for this.

Studying abroad last spring changed my life in so many ways and is one of the fondest memories from my college experience. If you are thinking about going, do it! It will push you so far out of your comfort zone and allow you to blossom into the best possible version of yourself. Merci pour tout, Strasbourg.♥️

Hi! My name is Liam De Vos. I am currently a Senio Hi! My name is Liam De Vos. I am currently a Senior and double majoring in Social Studies Education and History with a Minor in Physical Education. For today’s #flashbackfriday, I wanted to reflect back on my 3 summer semesters abroad. Due to my experiences, I am now pursuing teaching abroad following my graduation this May!

In Summer 2023, I went to South Africa with the School of Education, where we worked in a local school in Makhanda, a town 1 1/2 hours outside of Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth). This experience was truly unbelievable and my first time in the Southern Hemisphere. The opportunity to see a culture so different from my own was an eye opening experience. We visited an African safari, which is easily one of the coolest things I have ever done. One specific memory from South Africa is after a group dinner one night, walking back to the hotel, we saw a donkey walking in the middle of the street. As I was getting my phone out to take a picture, it started walking right at me, which made the picture I took blurry.

In Summer 2024, I went to Australia with Falk College, where we explored Melbourne, Cairns and Sydney. Making my way down under had always been a top priority of mine and getting the opportunity to do so, while getting lectures on how sports are managed and viewed in a different country was so interesting. The group we had was full of amazing people and memories I will cherish the rest of my life. One memory I have in Australia was scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef. It was the first time I ever scuba’d but the people on the boat with us were super supportive and made the experience truly once in a lifetime.

Finally, in Summer 2025, I went to Japan to explore the World Expo in Osaka. Visiting Japan had been my lifelong dream since I was little. Somehow, it was even more magical then I expected it to be and exploring an event like the World Expo was an added bonus.

Hi! My name is Maya and I am a senior studying Com Hi! My name is Maya and I am a senior studying Communication Sciences & Disorders and Biology. For today’s #meetanambassadormonday, I will be sharing about my abroad experience in Copenhagen. Last spring, I studied in Denmark with @dis.copenhagen, and it was the most amazing 4 months of my life!

As a STEM major, studying abroad can be a challenge, but DIS was the perfect program. It allowed me to take a mix of classes that would count towards my major and electives that were fun and different. My favorite class I took was Polar Biology- my core course. A core course is your “signature experience” that guides your semester with DIS. With your core course, you go on two faculty-led study tours- one “short study tour” which occurs elsewhere in Denmark, and one “long study tour” which occurs in another European country. One of my favorite trips was my long study tour where my class went to Tromsø, Norway!

I came into study abroad knowing nobody in my program, and I can proudly say that that was the best decision I made. I was able to meet so many more people and have different experiences than I would have if I went to Copenhagen with friends. DIS does an amazing job of planning activities and events for you to meet people in the early weeks of the program.

While I did get to travel to many amazing countries outside of Denmark, my time spent in Copenhagen was the most memorable. The city is amazing in so many aspects. It is the perfect size, public transport is easy and clean, there are so many unique shops and restaurants, and the people are so nice and welcoming. The city felt like home after only a few weeks of living there. The cold and dark winters do not stop the Danish people from living fully, and they make the warm and sunny spring even more beautiful.

I became a global ambassador to share my love for study abroad, travel, and Copenhagen with prospective students. Studying abroad is a once in a lifetime experience and I think everyone should go for it if they are able to! Please reach out for any questions or if you want me to convince you to go abroad with #DIS. #syracuseabroad
Hello SU Abroad Instagram! My name is Max Sype, a Hello SU Abroad Instagram! My name is Max Sype, a @maxwellschoolsu / @suartsciences class of 2026 student majoring in history with dual minors in political science & anthropology.

I am studying in Santiago, Chile, but I am not a part of the Spring 2026 program! I already had that great semester abroad experience last year here in Santiago as part of the Spring 2025 program. The reason for my return today (and the past 2 weeks) has been as an independent research trip for my distinction thesis in history, gratefully supported by the @ugresearchsyr and the @historyatsu . My research consists of studying the relationship between Chile and China during the 1980s, focusing on the presentation of the relationship in domestic to international Western media, as well as focusing on the descriptions of the relationship in internal Junta government documents. I know, I know, don't get too excited over such a hot and flashy topic...

As an alum of the Santiago program from last year, having the opportunity to return here has been academically and personally rewarding. I find that eating completos, riding the public transport, and basking in the Santiago sun is the kind of lifestyle that helps me do research in the best mood I can be in!

Although I could go on and on, this is probably long enough as a caption. The most important thing is to please tune in throughout the day today (3/14) of my story takeover on this account! Join me as I spend one last full day in Santiago doing research, going around and having fun, to ending our night with a concert at Teatro Municipal, the National Opera House of Chile (did I mention that I am a big fan of classical music? Once a cellist, always a cellist, I suppose). Chao!

Hi guys! I’m @laila.terrell originally from NYC, Hi guys! I’m @laila.terrell originally from NYC, studying abroad in Santiago, Chile! I’m a junior majoring in Political Philosophy and Spanish with @maxwellschoolsu and @suartsciences. I am also a work study student with @cfacsyracuse and a @lendercenter_su global research fellow this semester!

When choosing a study abroad location, the spanish language was the most important factor. I chose Chile because if it’s unique program with emphasis on dictatorships, human rights, and political economy. We are guided on trips I never could have imagined myself going, like Patagonia!

Stay tuned for my takeover while I take you guys through my day en el mejor país de chile 🇨🇱!
Hi everyone! I’m Alison originally from Taiwan 🇹🇼. I am a senior studying Information Management & Technology (@ischool) with minors in Music Industry and Flute Performance (@setnor_su). For today’s #FlashbackFriday, I’m sharing my amazing journey with EuroTech 2024! 🌍✨

EuroTech is a summer program that took us to six countries and about ten cities across Europe. (Each year varies, we went to Oslo, Norway, Copenhagen, Denmark, Malmo, Sweden, Berlin and Munich, Germany, Venice and Rome, Italy in 2024). We spent our time visiting innovative companies and an university, but also had plenty of free time to explore on our own. My most memorable moment was taking the ferry from Oslo to Copenhagen. We actually got to visit the bridge (captain’s room), talk to the captain, and get a tour of how such a massive ship operates! Once we arrived in Copenhagen, we visited the ferry company’s office to learn how they are using AI to reach their sustainability goals. ⛴️

Aside from the company and university visits, we also toured the Colosseum and had time to get lost in each city. Even though it was only 18 days, this trip was indeed one of the highlights of my college life. I couldn’t recommend it more! 🎓✈️

Hello everyone, I'm Anthony Argueta. I'm majoring Hello everyone, I'm Anthony Argueta. I'm majoring in Mathematics (BS), Physics (BS), and Italian Language, Literature, and Culture (BA), all through @suartsciences , set to graduate in Spring 2028.

Due to my major in Italian, I've chosen to study at @syracuseuflorence , through the Intensive Language Program, where I take Italian lessons through @unifirenze 's Centro di Cultura per Stranieri, at the B2 level. I'm living near the Church of Santa Croce, a great spot right in the center, not far from my UniFi class or our abroad campus at the Villa Rossa, as well as staying near all the historical sites and the other side of the Arno.

Besides that, here, I'm taking:
ITA 380: Intensive Italian (Centro Course) (6)
ITA 316: Italian Practicum II (Companion Course) (1)
LIT/REL/CLA 421: Classical Mythology (3)
HST 355: The Italian Renaissance (3)
PSC 300.2: Making Up Machiavelli (3)
FST 300.2: Italian Wines in Context (3)
CAS 200: Mapping Italy (1)

Besides the latter, all of these classes count towards my Italian Major! It's really a boon to be able to pack so much into a semester.

Back at home, I'm very involved with @organclubsu , @cusechessclub (where last Saturday, our teams swept the competition and won every match!) , and @symposium_org , having held eboard positions in all of them in the past. I also do research for @physicssyracuseu , as well as grade and teach in the clinic for @syracuseumath .

Due to my UniFi classes, it's been hard to travel, but thankfully SUFlorence has many opportunities for travel through its daytrips and other events. For events, last weekend I went to a "Meet the Mayors" event, which was where I got to see the former and current mayors of Florence, as well as the current mayors of Genoa, Athens, and Kiev (through zoom), and hear them talk about various topics, as well as hear summaries of forums held by "Il Gruppo dell'Alleanza Progressista di Socialisti e Democratici al Parlamento Europeo", or "The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament". As for travel, I've been to Viareggio for Carnevale, Lucca, and soon Sienna, with other trips planned!

Please look out for my story! Ask anything @100.ant

Buenas!!! My name is Carrie Karten and I am a curr Buenas!!! My name is Carrie Karten and I am a current Senior, graduating this May, studying Psychology with a double major in Spanish and Human Development and Family Science. I had the absolute joy of studying abroad in Madrid, Spain in Fall 2024. For today’s #meetanambassadormonday I’m excited to share my experience studying abroad with @syracuseumadrid !

From the moment I stepped on campus, I knew that a part of my college experience would include a semester abroad. With Syracuse’s exceptionally diverse abroad program, I was able to find the program that was perfect for me and was able to solidify a lifelong dream of living and studying abroad. Part of my decision to go to Madrid was also to immerse myself in a city in which I could become more comfortable speaking in my families native language of Spanish.

One of my biggest takeaways from Madrid will forever be the comfort in my own independence that it gave me. The ease of the public transportation gave me the comfort to truly explore the city, learn so much about the culture, and try all different types of food the city had to offer (I’m a HUGE foodie and will forever miss Madrid restaurants). Along with this, I was able to find comfort in exploring and being on my own in the city, something I had never felt much comfort with back home. My experiences in Madrid reminded me of the world outside of the country that we live in and how capable I am of creating my own journey.

I am forever grateful for the opportunity to experience living in Madrid for an entire semester. I will never stop boasting about @syracuseabroad and my time abroad. I decided to become a Global Ambassador when I returned because I wanted to help others find the perfect program for them and give them the excitement to have the experience of a lifetime. If you even have a bit of a desire to go abroad, go for it!! You truly will not regret it. I miss Madrid each and every day♥️

Hi! I’m Christian Han (Class of 2028), a Mechani Hi! I’m Christian Han (Class of 2028), a Mechanical Engineering student at Syracuse University.

And for today’s #FlashbackFriday I’ll be talking about my Summer 2025, where I studied abroad in Florence, Italy through Syracuse Abroad, and commuted to Pisa for an engineering internship at the University of Pisa (Department of Civil & Industrial Engineering).

One of my favorite flashback moments was being in the lab after a full commute and realizing I was actually doing real engineering work abroad—using SolidWorks, learning the principles behind polymer-based 3D printing, and helping with design adjustments and testing for ongoing projects. It was one of those moments where everything clicked: the technical skills, the cultural experience, and the growth that comes from stepping into a new environment.

Even with challenges like railway strikes and constant schedule changes, that experience taught me how to stay adaptable, consistent, and confident in unfamiliar situations—and it’s something I’ll carry with me long after returning to Syracuse.

Hi everyone! My name is Meaghan Jansen and I’m a Hi everyone! My name is Meaghan Jansen and I’m a junior Public Relations major with a Sociology minor at Syracuse University. This semester I’m studying abroad at the @syracuseumadrid and living at The Social Hub.

I chose Madrid because I wanted to study in a city that feels both historic and energetic at the same time. Madrid is incredibly walkable, full of culture, and constantly inspiring. From world-class museums to afternoons in Retiro Park, there’s always something new to explore. I also knew I wanted a program that would fully immerse me in Spain, and Syracuse Madrid does exactly that by connecting our classes directly to the city around us.

This semester I’m taking courses like Gender, Race, Migration, and Family in Spain, Spanish Popular Culture, Mapping Spain, Global Perspectives in Media, and Arts of Spain. I love how my sociology and communications classes focus specifically on Spain, allowing me to learn about the country’s history, media, culture, and social dynamics while actually living here. It’s made everything feel more hands on and meaningful.

At Syracuse, I’m involved in @tnhagency and @kappacuse , which have shaped my passion for communications and community. Being in Madrid has helped me see those interests from a more global perspective and think about how culture and media connect across borders.

Right now I’m actually on my way to a Syracuse-sponsored trip to Barcelona for the weekend, which is just one of the many opportunities the Madrid program offers.

Follow along with my story takeover to see what a typical day studying abroad in Madrid looks like, and feel free to message me with any questions!
Bonjour tout le monde! My name is Nicole Vasilev c Bonjour tout le monde! My name is Nicole Vasilev class of ‘28 and I’m doing today’s Takeover, honored to be here! I’m currently studying in Strasbourg, France 🇫🇷 as a Sophomore. I’m a dual major in International Relations and ESP (Environment Sustainability and Health) along with a minor in French with @maxwellschoolsu ! So it’s the perfect place for me here. @syracuseustrasbourg

I’ve been planning this trip since my first semester freshman year with my fellow SU bestie- and now we’re both here!! This program has been nothing but a blessing, a huge life lesson, a thrilling adventure, and a connecting opportunity for my future in International Relations. I’ve made so many international connections, grown closer to many of my peers in this program, and have learned crucial information from my amazing professors.

A few things about me personally:

1) MUN is my pride and joy!! @sumunclub 🇺🇳 I was just the president of this awesome club last semester and hope to return next semester to help it grow! I’ve been doing MUN since my freshman year of high school and has significantly determined my career trajectory - it was like love at first sight. Future UN member??

2) Tennis! 🎾 My absolute favorite sport, playing it since I was a lil kiddo! I’ve had great opportunities to become a tennis coach for my local hometown after my varsity years back in high school. It’s taught me technique, discipline, and most of all patience (patience of a saint level). I’ve yet to find some tennis courts here in France but just know I’m on it!

3) Music 🎷🎻 🎤Some of the coolest activities I’ve ever participated we’re always music related. Whether it was teaching students, playing and practicing on my own, learning how to march @cusebands , singing my heart out for fun or professionally, acting it out, and performing, it was always a blast. Here in France and all the places I’ve visited music is an important piece of culture that I’ve learned to appreciate and learn more about! Can’t wait to tune into more!

Keep yourself updated with my stories today as I trek through Valencia and Madrid Spain while on spring break! A bientôt 🫶
