Hello everyone, I'm Anthony Argueta. I'm majoring Hello everyone, I'm Anthony Argueta. I'm majoring in Mathematics (BS), Physics (BS), and Italian Language, Literature, and Culture (BA), all through @suartsciences , set to graduate in Spring 2028.

Due to my major in Italian, I've chosen to study at @syracuseuflorence , through the Intensive Language Program, where I take Italian lessons through @unifirenze 's Centro di Cultura per Stranieri, at the B2 level. I'm living near the Church of Santa Croce, a great spot right in the center, not far from my UniFi class or our abroad campus at the Villa Rossa, as well as staying near all the historical sites and the other side of the Arno.

Besides that, here, I'm taking:
ITA 380: Intensive Italian (Centro Course) (6)
ITA 316: Italian Practicum II (Companion Course) (1)
LIT/REL/CLA 421: Classical Mythology (3)
HST 355: The Italian Renaissance (3)
PSC 300.2: Making Up Machiavelli (3)
FST 300.2: Italian Wines in Context (3)
CAS 200: Mapping Italy (1)

Besides the latter, all of these classes count towards my Italian Major! It's really a boon to be able to pack so much into a semester.

Back at home, I'm very involved with @organclubsu , @cusechessclub (where last Saturday, our teams swept the competition and won every match!) , and @symposium_org , having held eboard positions in all of them in the past. I also do research for @physicssyracuseu , as well as grade and teach in the clinic for @syracuseumath .

Due to my UniFi classes, it's been hard to travel, but thankfully SUFlorence has many opportunities for travel through its daytrips and other events. For events, last weekend I went to a "Meet the Mayors" event, which was where I got to see the former and current mayors of Florence, as well as the current mayors of Genoa, Athens, and Kiev (through zoom), and hear them talk about various topics, as well as hear summaries of forums held by "Il Gruppo dell'Alleanza Progressista di Socialisti e Democratici al Parlamento Europeo", or "The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament". As for travel, I've been to Viareggio for Carnevale, Lucca, and soon Sienna, with other trips planned!

Please look out for my story! Ask anything @100.ant
Hi everyone! My name is Abigail Green. I am a juni Hi everyone! My name is Abigail Green. I am a junior at Syracuse University majoring in Advertising strategy and insights track( @newhousesu ) and minoring in Design studies. I am graduating May 2027! I am currently abroad in London for the semester living in the East side near Tower Bridge. @syracuselondon

On campus I am involved in a few magazines: @perception_su and am an assistant editor of @bakedmagazine. I am also a member of @tnhagency !

I chose to study in London because I wanted to experience true city living and because London is both vibrant and historic. I am luckily taking two British focused classes: London museums and British Masculinity on film!

London has also been such an easy place to travel from. So far I have been to Edinburgh, Scotland, The Cotswolds and Madrid, Spain. This upcoming weekend I travel to Brussels, Belgium through Syracuse!

Stay tuned today as I walk you through what an average day studying in London looks like! Cheers !🇬🇧 @abigailsgreen
Buenas!!! My name is Carrie Karten and I am a curr Buenas!!! My name is Carrie Karten and I am a current Senior, graduating this May, studying Psychology with a double major in Spanish and Human Development and Family Science. I had the absolute joy of studying abroad in Madrid, Spain in Fall 2024. For today’s #meetanambassadormonday I’m excited to share my experience studying abroad with @syracuseumadrid !

From the moment I stepped on campus, I knew that a part of my college experience would include a semester abroad. With Syracuse’s exceptionally diverse abroad program, I was able to find the program that was perfect for me and was able to solidify a lifelong dream of living and studying abroad. Part of my decision to go to Madrid was also to immerse myself in a city in which I could become more comfortable speaking in my families native language of Spanish.

One of my biggest takeaways from Madrid will forever be the comfort in my own independence that it gave me. The ease of the public transportation gave me the comfort to truly explore the city, learn so much about the culture, and try all different types of food the city had to offer (I’m a HUGE foodie and will forever miss Madrid restaurants). Along with this, I was able to find comfort in exploring and being on my own in the city, something I had never felt much comfort with back home. My experiences in Madrid reminded me of the world outside of the country that we live in and how capable I am of creating my own journey.

I am forever grateful for the opportunity to experience living in Madrid for an entire semester. I will never stop boasting about @syracuseabroad and my time abroad. I decided to become a Global Ambassador when I returned because I wanted to help others find the perfect program for them and give them the excitement to have the experience of a lifetime. If you even have a bit of a desire to go abroad, go for it!! You truly will not regret it. I miss Madrid each and every day♥️

Hi! I’m Christian Han (Class of 2028), a Mechani Hi! I’m Christian Han (Class of 2028), a Mechanical Engineering student at Syracuse University.

And for today’s #FlashbackFriday I’ll be talking about my Summer 2025, where I studied abroad in Florence, Italy through Syracuse Abroad, and commuted to Pisa for an engineering internship at the University of Pisa (Department of Civil & Industrial Engineering).

One of my favorite flashback moments was being in the lab after a full commute and realizing I was actually doing real engineering work abroad—using SolidWorks, learning the principles behind polymer-based 3D printing, and helping with design adjustments and testing for ongoing projects. It was one of those moments where everything clicked: the technical skills, the cultural experience, and the growth that comes from stepping into a new environment.

Even with challenges like railway strikes and constant schedule changes, that experience taught me how to stay adaptable, consistent, and confident in unfamiliar situations—and it’s something I’ll carry with me long after returning to Syracuse.

Hi everyone! My name is Meaghan Jansen and I’m a Hi everyone! My name is Meaghan Jansen and I’m a junior Public Relations major with a Sociology minor at Syracuse University. This semester I’m studying abroad at the @syracuseumadrid and living at The Social Hub.

I chose Madrid because I wanted to study in a city that feels both historic and energetic at the same time. Madrid is incredibly walkable, full of culture, and constantly inspiring. From world-class museums to afternoons in Retiro Park, there’s always something new to explore. I also knew I wanted a program that would fully immerse me in Spain, and Syracuse Madrid does exactly that by connecting our classes directly to the city around us.

This semester I’m taking courses like Gender, Race, Migration, and Family in Spain, Spanish Popular Culture, Mapping Spain, Global Perspectives in Media, and Arts of Spain. I love how my sociology and communications classes focus specifically on Spain, allowing me to learn about the country’s history, media, culture, and social dynamics while actually living here. It’s made everything feel more hands on and meaningful.

At Syracuse, I’m involved in @tnhagency and @kappacuse , which have shaped my passion for communications and community. Being in Madrid has helped me see those interests from a more global perspective and think about how culture and media connect across borders.

Right now I’m actually on my way to a Syracuse-sponsored trip to Barcelona for the weekend, which is just one of the many opportunities the Madrid program offers.

Follow along with my story takeover to see what a typical day studying abroad in Madrid looks like, and feel free to message me with any questions!
Bonjour tout le monde! My name is Nicole Vasilev c Bonjour tout le monde! My name is Nicole Vasilev class of ‘28 and I’m doing today’s Takeover, honored to be here! I’m currently studying in Strasbourg, France 🇫🇷 as a Sophomore. I’m a dual major in International Relations and ESP (Environment Sustainability and Health) along with a minor in French with @maxwellschoolsu ! So it’s the perfect place for me here. @syracuseustrasbourg

I’ve been planning this trip since my first semester freshman year with my fellow SU bestie- and now we’re both here!! This program has been nothing but a blessing, a huge life lesson, a thrilling adventure, and a connecting opportunity for my future in International Relations. I’ve made so many international connections, grown closer to many of my peers in this program, and have learned crucial information from my amazing professors.

A few things about me personally:

1) MUN is my pride and joy!! @sumunclub 🇺🇳 I was just the president of this awesome club last semester and hope to return next semester to help it grow! I’ve been doing MUN since my freshman year of high school and has significantly determined my career trajectory - it was like love at first sight. Future UN member??

2) Tennis! 🎾 My absolute favorite sport, playing it since I was a lil kiddo! I’ve had great opportunities to become a tennis coach for my local hometown after my varsity years back in high school. It’s taught me technique, discipline, and most of all patience (patience of a saint level). I’ve yet to find some tennis courts here in France but just know I’m on it!

3) Music 🎷🎻 🎤Some of the coolest activities I’ve ever participated we’re always music related. Whether it was teaching students, playing and practicing on my own, learning how to march @cusebands , singing my heart out for fun or professionally, acting it out, and performing, it was always a blast. Here in France and all the places I’ve visited music is an important piece of culture that I’ve learned to appreciate and learn more about! Can’t wait to tune into more!

Keep yourself updated with my stories today as I trek through Valencia and Madrid Spain while on spring break! A bientôt 🫶
Earlier this month, students at @syracuseustrasbou Earlier this month, students at @syracuseustrasbourg met with the European Ombudsman Teresa Anjinho, who spoke about her professional journey and experiences as an Ombudswoman. 🤝

“I felt very motivated by her talk. She inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and go for what I am passionate about,” said Kiara Reyes, a student at the Center.

The event offered a meaningful chance to connect with a leading European public official. Students were left with a renewed perspective on diplomacy, public service, and purpose. Thank you to @anjinho74 for sharing her wisdom and generosity.
Hi! My name is Alex Waters and I am a junior indus Hi! My name is Alex Waters and I am a junior industrial and interaction design major and marketing minor. I’m currently studying abroad in Florence, Italy, where I live in the ReDama hotel. I chose Italy because the of the rich product design history and culture, the amazing food, mild weather, and language immersion at @syracuseuflorence.

I am taking industrial design, general design, fashion business, business, food history, and italian classes. I chose to take 17 credits rather than 14 because my major is pretty credit heavy, and I wanted to take the opportunity to take required liberal arts classes that I would never typically have access to.

At Syracuse, I am part of the @suskiteam and @deltagammasu, and while the Florence campus is
small, it is also full of my friends from these groups!

Hi everyone! My name is Keira Bowers, and I am a t Hi everyone! My name is Keira Bowers, and I am a third-year student graduating this May with a Biology major and Spanish minor @suartsciences . Welcome to my #MeetAnAmbassadorMonday ! 🌍

Throughout my time at Syracuse, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to study abroad three times – first in South Korea with @skstudyabroad in May 2024 🇰🇷, and then during the Fall 2024 semester and Summer 2025 session in Spain with @syracuseumadrid 🇪🇸.

In South Korea, I got to experience energetic cityscape of Seoul, relaxing nature on Jeju Island, and scenic coasts in Busan 🌊. I loved taking DES 300, Designscape of South Korea, because it allowed me tap into my creative side while enjoying the country’s vibrant culture and architecture. Some of my most impactful memories include wearing hanbok in royal palace grounds, traveling to the DMZ and seeing North Korea, and eating some of the best food of my life, especially the famous fresh oranges on Jeju. 🍊

As a STEM major, I chose Madrid because of the Health and Sciences program, which allowed me to complete my Organic Chemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology requirements while abroad. 📚 On top of that, I participated in the Marine Ecology Seminar, an upper-division biology course that took me along the southern coast of Spain with the most incredible instructors. We learned the history of the cities we visited, the Mediterranean Sea, and I even earned my SCUBA certification! 🤿

While living in Madrid, I experienced so much of what Spain has to offer, including flamenco, cooking classes, bullfights, and live theatre. 💃 I also traveled extensively - over 10 countries between my fall semester and summer session (some pictured here) - and I can now say I’ve been to almost every major city in Spain (20+ cities)!

I became a Global Ambassador because I absolutely love talking about my time abroad, so if you ever have any questions, please feel free to reach out @ke.bowers or find me on the Global Ambassador webpage. Go abroad!! 🙌

Hi! I’m Jude Bazerman, class of 2026, Broadcast Hi! I’m Jude Bazerman, class of 2026, Broadcast Digital Journalism and Geography major! For today’s #FlashbackFriday, I’ll be talking about my time at the Syracuse London Program this past Spring 2025.

I don’t have a specific day or moment I often think about when reminiscing on my time abroad. Instead, I remember how amazing the accessibility of traveling within London was. On days I had class in the afternoon, I would spend the mornings exploring different neighborhoods of the city. From Camden to the Docklands to Kensington, I was able to learn about the different cultures and people who call each section of the city home. London also offers so many amazing outdoor spaces for a big city, and all of them are easy to get to via the tube (underground metro), bus, or just by walking. On days where it was sunny, I would find a park somewhere in the city and just relax while enjoying the environment around me. London is my favorite place, in large part because of the countless neighborhoods with different character and areas to explore, and the many parks that make spending time outside so easy!

London is one of my favorite cities and after a month of studying here i’ve fallen even more in love with it! I chose London because of its rich literary history and vibrant poetry and art scene. All of my professors are so knowledgeable and have expanded my learning through their reading recommendations and site visits like museums and performances. Since being here I have joined a bookclub, been to many jazz shows, made new friends, and traveled to nearby towns. This weekend i’ll be on a school sponsored trip to Dublin! Overall London has been so inspiring for my writing and I can’t wait to see what more it has to offer!

¡Hola! My name is Sam Reinhard, a sophomore Actin ¡Hola! My name is Sam Reinhard, a sophomore Acting major at @sudramadept with a minor in Business. For this #meetanambassadormonday I will be talking about my 2025 summer abroad in Madrid, Spain!

Since learning Spanish in high school, I knew I wanted to travel/study abroad and immerse myself within the Spanish culture and language. The ability to study abroad as an acting major, especially during the summer, was one of my choices for choosing Syracuse! When presented with the opportunity to study abroad in Madrid over the summer, I knew I had to take it.

Some of my favorite memories included all the trips I was able to go on. Whether they were solo-trips, with friends, the entire program, or in my classes, I was able to explore Madrid, Spain, and other parts of Europe. In Living in Madrid: Neighborhood (SPA 300), I was able to learn about the history and culture of Madrid while improving my Spanish. As a class we toured and learned about different areas of the city. I loved going to all the art museums in my Arts of Spain (HOA 209) class, especially the Prado Museum. Being in Europe, I was also able to visit some camp friends in Chester, England who I had not seen in a while. I also loved visiting El Retiro Park, seeing Mamma Mia the musical with friends, and trying new food!

I had so much fun in Madrid and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested! I got to make such amazing friends, immerse myself in another culture, and travel at such a young age.

I became a GA to share my experience and make students more aware of the opportunities Syracuse has for study abroad. Many people I have talked to had no idea studying abroad during the summer was even a possibility! Abroad taught me so much and I cannot wait to visit Madrid again.

In the Spring of 2025 I had the once in life time opportunity of studying abroad in Sydney, Australia!!

I had the incredible opportunity to take courses such as marine biology, ecology and evolution, and criminology. I stayed in Coogee Beach and was able to spend my days studying on the beach and hanging out with my housemates.

For this week’s Flashback Friday I wanted to share some of my unforgettable excursion while I was abroad. I traveled to New Zealand during my semester break and saw incredible sights such as Mount Cook and went on a gorgeous hike. We went to a lavender farm and even got the chance to go skydiving!! (Where I learned that I apparently am not as terrified of heights as I thought) I had the opportunity to travel the Great Ocean Road with a few of my housemates and it was truly the highlight of my abroad experience. We also took a trip to featherdale sydney wildlife park and the blue mountains where I got to see Koalas and Waterfalls. Lastly I wanted to reflect on my trip to the Australia zoo where I got the chance to see the Irwin Family feed their crocodiles and got to pet a kangaroo!!! Traveling abroad to Sydney was truly the greatest adventure of my life and I hope to get to return there one day.

I’m currently studying abroad in Florence for the Spring 2026 semester with @syr_arch_florence and having the time of my life!! I’m also extremely excited to be able to study abroad again in my Fall 2026 semester in Seoul, as an exchange student with Ewha Woman’s University!

I chose Florence because it’s absolutely stunning. The architecture here is phenomenal, and there’s so much history in this city that is just waiting to be discovered. While I’m here, aside from my architecture classes, I’m also taking a walking course that explores the city even further- which is great, because wandering around aimlessly has become my favorite activity.

This was an incredible opportunity to meet and work with new people, to build on my independence and social skills, to see some of the world’s most important art works and churches, and to eat some of the world’s best food! One of my favorite memories was watching the sunset after dinner in Rome. A few friends from our group shared the most wonderful meal and conversation. After dinner we went outside to take a picture to remember the evening and were surprised by the most beautiful sunset ever! I will always remember my friends from the Italy abroad program and that stunning sunset!

Hi! My name is Ianne, I'm graduating in May 2026 i Hi! My name is Ianne, I'm graduating in May 2026 in physics and earth sciences. In fall 2024, I had the amazing opportunity to study abroad with DIS Copenhagen. As a part of the DIS program, every student is in a core class. Each core class engages in a week-long study tour relating to your course. My core class was "Ice Cores and Ice Ages" and we therefore went to Greenland.

For this week's Flashback Friday, I wanted to share my unforgettable study tour to Greenland. We walked through ice caves and up to massive ice walls. We also got to walk on top of the ice sheet, navigating the crevasses. At night, we were witness to spectacular northern lights shows. We saw amazing wildlife including reindeers, sled dogs, and even muscox. Through such activities, I made amazing friends with the people in my class as we endured the cold together. Overall, studying abroad was an amazing, unforgettable experience. There's so many possible places to travel to while abroad, don't forget about less popular destinations! If you have any questions about travelling while abroad, the DIS program, or just study abroad in general, feel free to reach out!
