MUI408 Music Industry Practicum: The Global Workplace (Fall, Spring)

Open only to music industry majors and minors who have committed to an internship by the published deadline. This course is designed to guide students’ professional development during experience in the London workforce. Participation in the course will equip students with the practical skills needed to thrive in a globalised world of work—as well as the theoretical background and critical thinking abilities necessary to reflect on their position in that interconnected system.

During the course, students will be introduced to the global workplace, consider evolving careers in a changing world, identify ethical and practical issues of concern for businesses and workers, and refine their professional objectives and strategies.

Students registered for this class will seek and normally engage in an internship (work-based learning) in London. They will also interview professionals in fields relevant to them and pitch an event or campaign specific to their placement sector.

This course must be taken for a letter grade. Internship placements typically require a commitment of two days per week.
