EDI380.8 Architecture and Identity

In addition to their structural and aesthetic characteristics, further symbolism is attached to architectural monuments. In this course, we will focus on the role of architecture in expressing a certain identity beyond their aesthetic and functional characteristics. We will analyze how architecture and architectural styles embody cultural identity. How do silent and abstract forms in architecture express the identity of the people who build them? Drawing from this question, we will examine how a building manifests the geography, nation, and personality to which it belongs. Furthermore, we will explore how these relationships can be established within contemporary architectural designs. (ARCH 3923)
