Dr. Paredes Honored with Inspiration Award
On Wednesday, April 23, SU Santiago Director Mauricio Paredes was honored with an Inspiration Award at the annual ceremony for the Chancellor’s Award for Public Engagement and Scholarship (CAPES). Unfortunately, he could not make it to Syracuse from Santiago, so Associate Provost for International Education and Engagement Margaret Himley attended and accepted on his behalf.
The Inspiration Award recipients are nominated by the Chancellor Citation recipients. They are faculty or staff members who have been mentors, supporters and sources of inspiration for the individual awardees. At SU Abroad, we know that many, many students have valued the incredible guidance that Dr. Paredes has provided over the years.
“This is a well-deserved honor to recognize the years of committed and inspiring teaching,” said Himley. Dr. Paredes is currently guiding 18 students through their spring 2014 semester in Santiago, and will welcome the 28 students of the fall 2014 cohort to Chile in July.
