Taught in Spanish at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica and may not be offered every semester. The course focuses on identifying the epistemological nature of pedagogical knowledge, its scope and purpose, the study of its mode of production, circulation, consumption and control. It stresses the character of theoretical and practical knowledge and its structure as scientific knowledge. In this regard, we distinguish basic theoretical concepts and categories in one part of the course and in the other part we discuss the pedagogical approaches of different teachers and the main directions of contemporary teaching, with specific attention to its impact on and relevance to education in Chile and Latin America.
