Taught in English at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica. This course provides a survey from the perspective of economics of public policy issues regarding the use of natural resources and the management of environomental quality. The first part of the course is an introduction to the principles of environmental and resource economics. The focus then turns to both nonrenewable and renewable natural resources and environmental policy, including local, regional and global problems. The course concludes with a look at sustainability and macroeconomic aspects of environmental policy, including positive political economy. Pre-requisite: introductory economics course.
