HOA180.1 History of Artistic Expression

Taught in Spanish at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica and may not be offered every semester. This course seeks an understanding of the great cultural-artistic motivations in the most characteristic periods in the history of art. The works of art generated by specific world views as well as factors present in all cultures and ages will be considered. Techniques or styles will not be exhaustively analyzed, but rather the internal content inherent in the works of art as a testimony of transcendental human strivings, preoccupations and insights through time. To exemplify such, different artistic idioms will be employed: literature, music and visual arts. (UC code: ESH 1026)
