The Medici family stands as one of the most influential dynasties in Italian history, particularly during the Renaissance and early modern era. This course aims to provide a foundational understanding of the Medici family’s history from its origins until 1532, offering insights into the events that catalyzed their rise and eventual decline. We will explore various aspects of the Italian Renaissance, including papacy, political plots, legislative developments and marriage. This course will integrate art history, architecture, Italian history, contemporary Florentine culture and communication, all through the lens of the Medici heritage.
