Taught in Spanish at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica and may not be offered every semester. This course examines the cinematic system including production structures, language strategies, theories of reinforcement and resistance. The late but overwhelming eruption of Modernism in cinema forces the study of its significance and of cinema as an experience and of its relation with other art forms. We start with the history of world cinema, looking at major film theories and strategies of cinematic expression. (UC code: EST241D)
