Taught in Spanish at the Universidad Diego Portales and may not be offered every semester. The course will go through Europe’s most innovative and influential playwrights in the recent years (Bernard-Marie Koltès, Howard Barker, Martin Crimp, Heiner Müller, etc.) and will focus on analyzing the main characteristics of their works to put into perspective the development of contemporary European drama and its influence on the national theater environment. Through the reading of texts and the delivery of the basic tools for the analysis of drama, group discussion will be encouraged to awaken in students a new appreciation for the dramatic text and theatrical art.
