Italian Cooking Classes

One of the most revealing aspects of a culture is its cuisine. What do the ingredients and recipes tell us about the land, the climate, the people and their habits?

You can spend time getting to know not only Italian culinary traditions, but also your fellow classmates! Syracuse Florence offers a series of 5-6 menus from different regions of Italy; most classes teach you how to make two first course dishes, a second course dish and a dessert. The best part of the class, however, is sitting around the table enjoying a delicious meal that you’ve prepared with new and old friends alike.

Wine, Olive Oil, and Balsamic Vinegar Tasting

Taste several of Italy’s most prized gastronomic treasures in a 14th-century Florentine wine cellar.

Choosing wine is like making friends: you get to know them, build a relationship, and should never take them for granted. At one of our favorite wine cellars, you’ll learn how wine is made and how to use your senses to find the wine, or wines, that are right for you. Finding your favorite olive oil takes a different approach; Pino will help you discover how and will tell you what makes Tuscan olive oil so special. Last but not least, learn how balsamic vinegar is made and why using a good quality balsamic can enhance every meal, including dessert! The tasting is accompanied by prosciutto, salame toscano, parmigiano and more!
