Take a step closer to the local community by leaving your mark and making it a better place. With the activities in this stamp category, you’ll not only learn about the reality of those around you, but also actively volunteer as a means of acquiring intercultural knowledge and instigating social change.

The Community Outreach stamp category includes, but is not limited to, the activities described below. Please note that activities offered will vary by availability.

Tree Planting

Volunteer to help plant trees in Casa de Campo, a sprawling park in western Madrid, while you learn more about local community gardening efforts and the importance of green spaces in the city.

Volunteer at an Animal Shelter

Visit a local animal shelter and get to know their mission. You’ll lend a hand with gardening, cleaning, and organizational needs while getting to meet (and possibly even pet) the animals in tow!

Farmers’ Market

Every Saturday of the month, the Madrid Farmers’ Bureau (Cámara de Agricultores de la Comunidad de Madrid) puts on a farmers’ market, and you can come check it out alongside the MadWorld Program. As farmers, bakers, and more come in to sell their wares in person, you’ll learn about the importance of growing local and the current state of agriculture in Spain. Of course, while there, you’re free to buy anything you’d like–bread, cheese, meat, fruits, veggies, you name it!
