Participation Confirmation Deposit

Securing your place in the program

The non-refundable Participation Confirmation Deposit is due within 10 days of receiving your acceptance letter. This payment will be credited toward charges such as tuition, program fees, course fees, and other charges on your Syracuse University Bursar Account (viewable through MySlice).

Students who must pay this deposit:

  • All Visiting students
  • All Syracuse University students in semester center programs
  • All Summer or Short-term program students

SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Important: Use Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox with the pop-up blocker disabled. The Bursar payment system does not work with Chrome or Safari.

Steps:

  • Log into MySlice (myslice.syr.edu)
  • Select the Billing/Payments tile
  • Click “Please Click to Enter”
  • Click “Make a Payment”
  • Click “Pay Bursar Bill Online”
  • Select “Advance Deposit-New Graduate Student $500 or Deposit Syracuse Abroad Students $575” (the amount will show as $0.00 initially)
  • Enter $575.00 as the payment amount
  • Click “Add to Payment”
  • Click “Check Out”

Payment Methods Accepted

  • Credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express)
  • Debit card (Visa or MasterCard logo)
  • Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) from checking or savings account

Convenience Fee Notice

Credit card and debit card payments are processed by Transact Integrated Systems (a third-party contractor) and subject to a non-refundable convenience fee:

  • 2.95% for domestic credit or debit cards
  • 4.25% for international credit or debit cards
  • Minimum fee of $3.00 applies to transactions between $20.00 and $103.00
  • No convenience fee for ACH/EFT payments

Note: The University does not receive any portion of this fee. It will appear as a separate charge on your credit card statement.

Steps:

    • Make a $575 check or money order payable to Syracuse University

    • Include your SUID number or date of birth on the check

    • Mail the check and form to:

VISITING STUDENTS

Some visiting students from partner schools may be eligible to have their Participation Confirmation Deposit satisfied by their home institution. See our list of deferred payment schools to determine if you qualify. If you do, contact your home institution to arrange payment.

Making Additional Payments After Your Deposit

Once your Participation Confirmation Deposit is received by the SU Bursar’s Office, you can make subsequent online payments for any remaining balance using the same MySlice online payment process. The same payment methods and convenience fees apply.
