If you are in need of assistance, stop by the Student Life office to speak to a member of our staff, Monday to Thursday, 8:30am – 6pm. The office is located in Room 202 on the second floor of the International Institute. On Fridays, staff will be available via email during these same hours. Please note that these services are only available to current Syracuse Madrid students.
For serious emergencies:
- For serious, immediate, and life-threatening emergencies, call 112 (Spain’s equivalent to 911).
For urgent support:

- During the weekends or after hours, call the student resource line for urgent issues at +34 696 41 39 77.
- In case of a mental health crisis, we have an English-speaking mental health professional on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You may contact her at +34 619 27 01 48.

- To report a racist incident as either a victim or a witness, you can call the Federación SOS Racismo hotline and leave a message with your phone number at +34 915 59 29 06. This organization is equipped to listen to you, answer your questions, and assist with next steps if desired. You can also fill out their online form, and they will get in touch with you.
- LGBTQIA2S+ Support:
- Programa Madrileño de Información y Atención LGTBI (the Community of Madrid LGBTQ program) provides information and support for those questioning their gender and sexuality at +34 917 01 07 88. They can also aid with next steps in the event of homophobic, transphobic, etc., incidents, in addition to other types of assistance.
- Observatorio madrileño contra la homofobia, transfobia y bifobia offers similar services to those who fill out their online form. Alternatively, you can get in touch at +34 618 54 71 66 (WhatsApp only).
Syracuse University Support in Madrid
Syracuse University prohibits harassment or discrimination related to any protected category including creed, ethnic or national origin, gender, pregnancy, disability, marital status, political or social affiliation, age, race, color, veteran status, military status, religion, sexual orientation, domestic violence status, gender identity, gender expression, or perceived gender. If you feel threatened in any way, contact a member of the Student Life staff, or as mentioned above, call our 24-hour crisis line. Alternatively, you can reach out to your professors, host parents, and other University staff if you feel comfortable doing so. They will alert the Student Support staff who will work to provide you with resources to assist you.
