Housing and Meal Plan Information

On-Campus Housing

The University offers limited residential space for exchange and visiting students on-campus. Preference for on-campus space is given to those students planning to study for the entire academic year, August to May. Students are placed into a single dorm room within the SkyHall residential complex or apartments on the University’s South Campus.

If you are interested in staying in on-campus housing you must complete a form which can be found in your application under “Learning Content.” You will receive an email to your Syracuse University email account that will inform you of your room assignment. The placement will also show on your MySlice account.

Off-Campus Housing

Off-campus housing costs can vary. It is recommended that you arrive early to look for an apartment if you have not set up one before you arrive. You will have to pay a month’s rent in advance, plus a refundable security deposit equal to the monthly rent. Utilities are typically paid separately from rent.

For a preview of costs and typical apartments, please consult Orange Housing or use the Off Campus Housing Finder.

Meal plans

A University meal plan is required for all campus residents living within residence halls. Even if you live off-campus, you can still sign up for one of the SU meal plans. This can be done prior to arriving or when you arrive.

The rates can be found at the Office of Housing, Meal Plan, and ID Card Services’ website.
