Study abroad in Strasbourg, France

Welcome to SU Strasbourg!

Strasbourg Station

The SU Strasbourg program is designed to make the most of all that Strasbourg offers. You'll learn from international faculty members who are professionals in politics, diplomacy, and law. The pre-semester Signature Seminar introduces you to Europe through travel, lectures, and encounters with politicians, teachers, and activists. Course-related field study offers further European travel opportunities, and internships at European institutions allow you to gain invaluable hands-on experience during your time in Strasbourg.

The name Strasbourg means, "City of Roads," and indeed our program is located in the very heart of the new Europe. Situated in the Alsace region of France, our center is just a 10-minute bike ride from Germany and a one-hour train ride to Switzerland. A truly cosmopolitan city, Strasbourg is rich with social and cultural options—but still small enough for you to feel at home.

The Campus in Strasbourg: A New Home

New Strasbourg buildingThe SU Strasbourg program will be moving to a new location in Fall 2013, to 19 Quai Rouget de Lisle, near the Parc de l’Orangerie, and a five-minute walk from both the Council of Europe and the University of Strasbourg. A resident academic director from the SU faculty and a permanent support staff assist you with all your academic and living needs. The SU Strasbourg Center has classrooms, lounges, a small computer lab, and reading room. The center is ideally situated in the city and will become your new home away from home in Europe.

About SU Strasbourg: Guided Immersion

Our academic program builds on the city’s unique institutional resources. Over 1/3 of our faculty are professionals from the Council of Europe or Court of Human Rights who bring real issues into the classroom. Program specialties include EU studies, international relations, French language, human rights, music performance (through a partnership with Strasbourg Conservatory), and management. Internships in a wide variety of fields are offered as well, and SU students are encouraged to take full advantage of placement with Strasbourg's many European institutions.

Expect to be deeply engaged with your studies and host culture. Field study and site visits throughout Europe are integral to the academic program, and your homestay will round out both your personal and educational experience. French language programs at all levels and French culture studies complete the academic program. Intermediate and advanced French language students may take courses in French at the Université de Strasbourg.
