Archètipo cultural association

Company Description: Archètipo handles the production and distribution of live video and other forms of communication. They manage the municipal theatre of Antella (province of Florence), promoting events through different channels of communication (video, photography, social media, print media and television). They film on historical sites within Tuscany with the help of actors and tour guides bringing together history of art, literature, and architecture. They curate events that link classicism and contemporary culture with great attention paid to promotion and marketing.

Job Description: Interns will assist in marketing management and in filming and photographing events and projects.

Tasks:

  • Produce photographic promotional content 
  • Create and manage content for the company’s different social channels 
  • Assist with filming

DOT Florence

Company Description: Dot Florence is a web design and social media communications company specialized in integrated projects of online communication, mostly in the hospitality industry. The organization’s objectives are to create communications projects that are visually appealing, easily navigable and well optimized for search engines. The ultimate goal of our projects is the emotional involvement of the user (user experience), which we consider to be the only way to make a web project successful.

Job Description: Interns assist management and the Managing Partner Marco De la Pierre with creating promotional content for social media platforms

Tasks: 

  • Conduct interviews with local artisans, service providers and entrepreneurs 
  • Revise and develop promotional materials
  • Create digital marketing content such as videos

Florence is You

Company Description: “Florence is You” is a bimonthly newspaper focused on culture, art, exhibitions, events, traditions, food, lifestyle and life in Florence. The newspaper is printed and online and is distributed free of charge in Florence (Italy) and in other areas of the Florentine metropolitan city. “Florence is You!” brings bilingual news on how to live like a local in Florence to its readers, connecting the two dimensions of the city that often travel on two parallel tracks: those who reside and those who lives here only for a period.

Job Description: Based on their competencies and field of studies, interns at Florence is You will assist in activities related to P.R., marketing, design and content creation. 

Tasks:

  • Conduct interviews

Kirsten Hills

Company Description: Kirsten Hills is an award-winning filmmaker and video content producer. Kirsten has been working with large clients like Uffizi Galleries, UNICEF and the Region of Tuscany to deliver video with excellent production values, great story telling and compelling images. She continues to freelance for news networks (BBC, NBC & ITV) where she started out as video journalist.

Job Description: This placement will give interns the chance to improve their videomaking skills by giving hands-on experience planning, filming and editing material over the course of the semester. They will end the placement with greater confidence using Adobe Premier software and knowing how to make great video content.
Interns will receive some training, after which they will be expected to put their knowledge into practice by generating content. The placement will bring interns into contact with people from Florence as we film interviews and locations here.

Tasks:
To research and self-produce ideas for video content
• To assist with camera shoots
• To edit content using Adobe Premier (with tutoring from Kirsten)

Required skills and Equipment:

• Basic spoken Italian
• Laptop with memory capacity for Adobe Premier (Kirsten will license the software)
• Digital camera with video capabilities, and fast memory cards to enable filming (Kirsten can supply both, if necessary.)
• Interns need to come with a curiosity and eagerness to learn.


Magenta Publishing

Company Description: Located in downtown Florence, Magenta Publishing offers a creative space for English-language interns in Florence. The company is the only one in the region owned and run by a professionally-accredited American journalist. Originally designed as a writer’s workshop, Magenta places emphasis on first-hand reporting as well as developing an intuition for the meaning and nuances of words.

Job Description: Work can center on the magazine Vista, Florence & Tuscany for those who would like to participate in and learn about producing a color magazine from start to finish. Month by Month is an ongoing project, and the first assignment is generally a short article for that publication before working up to longer articles that appear in Vista. Magenta interns have gone on to work at NBC, Newsweek, HarperCollins and DreamWorks. Others have done equally well, as the recipients of a Fulbright scholarship and a writing grant from Rolling Stone magazine.

  • Create content for the Magenta website, Tuscan Trends site and partner site La Repubblica

Sound System Firenze

Company Description: Sound System Studio is a recording studio created in 2009 by Marco Cioni, a music lover and electric bass player. The recording studio has a musical club-like atmosphere and is an important place of reference for Florentine musicians. The studio boasts a high ratio between the quality of service and the prices, which are amongst the lowest in Florence. 

Job Description: Interns at Sound System Firenze will assist in all aspects of technical recording and studio set up. Additionally, interns will attend to light secretarial management and social media. 

Tasks: 

  • Setting up and taking down recording equipment
  • Working with sound applications 
  • Controlling recording, amplifying, mixing and mic management 
  • Development of social media content 
  • Client scheduling and other secretarial duties

Required Skills and Equipment:

  • Some Italian preferred
  • Passion for music 
  • Some experience in music production/recording preferred

Company Description: The Florentine is a bi-weekly English-language newspaper published in Florence. It aims to help English-speaking visitors become better acquainted with the city of Florence and its surrounding communities. It reports on local and national Italian news and publishes an extensive list of current events in and around Florence. 

Job Description: The intern will assist with as well as develop independently articles for The Florentine

Tasks:

  • Conduct research for articles 
  • Conduct interviews for articles 
  • Write and edit articles of general interest for English-speaking residents and visitors to Florence

Ovotondo

Company Description: The owner of Ovotondo is a Florentine paper artist whose studio is located in downtown Florence. She uses her imaginative skills to transform pieces of paper into colorful, creative works of art with the aid of simple tools such as a paper cutter, scissors, tweezers, and glue. Each handcrafted piece is unique.

Job Description: Interns will assist with promoting Ovotondo on social media and other online platforms.

Tasks:
• Writing
• Curating a newsletter
• Photographing and retouching photographic images
• Video editing and exporting in various formats for social media and website
